Why CV RAMAN SO GREAT

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, was the first Indian, Asian , Non-White person to win the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for his pioneering work on scattering of light. The discovery was later known as ” Raman Effect “.

The ‘Raman Effect’ is considered very significant in analyzing the molecular structure of chemical compounds.

Also, In 1954 he was awarded with Republic of India’s highest civilian award  “Bharat Ratna” award.

we celebrate National Science Day Mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C V Raman on 28 February 1928.

Another objective of celebrating national science day to spread the awareness and importance of science with its application among the people.

What is the Raman Effect: –

Raman effect, change in the wavelength of light exhibited by some electromagnetic radiation or light beam while travelling through a transparent medium and getting deflected by the molecules present in the medium.

When this light beam travels a transparent object of chemical compound a small fraction of light emerges in the direction other than that of the incoming beam.
